Do plastic materials PC, TRITAN, etc. fall into the category of symbol 7?

Polycarbonate (PC) and Tritan™ are two common plastic materials that do not strictly fall under Symbol 7. They are usually not classified directly as the “7″ in the recycling identification number because they have unique properties and uses.

PC (polycarbonate) is a plastic with high transparency, high heat resistance and high strength. It is often used to make automobile parts, protective glasses, plastic bottles, water cups and other durable goods.

Tritan™ is a special copolyester material with properties similar to PC, but it is designed to be BPA (bisphenol A) free, so it is more common in the manufacture of food contact products, such as drinking bottles, food containers wait. Tritan™ is often promoted as being toxic-free and resistant to high temperatures and impact.

Although these materials are not directly classified under the “No. 7″ designation, in some cases these particular materials may be included with other plastics or mixtures within the “No. 7″ category. This may be because of their complex composition or because they are difficult to classify strictly to a specific identification number.

It is important to note that when recycling and disposing of these special plastic materials, it is best to consult your local recycling facility or related agencies to understand the correct disposal methods and feasibility.
