Among the many water cup export certifications, is CE certification necessary?

Exported products inevitably need various certifications, so what certifications do water cups usually need to undergo for export?

During these years of working in the industry, the export certifications for water bottles I have come across are usually FDA, LFGB, ROSH, and REACH. The North American market is mainly FDA, the European market is mainly LFGB, some Asian countries will recognize REACH, and some countries will recognize ROSH. Regarding the question of whether water cups need CE certification, not only many readers and friends are asking, but also many customers are asking. At the same time, some customers insist on providing them. So do water cups must be CE certified for export?

First we need to understand what is CE certification? CE certification is limited to basic safety requirements in terms of products not endangering the safety of humans, animals and goods, rather than general quality requirements. The coordination directive only stipulates the main requirements, and the general directive requirements are standard tasks. Therefore, the precise meaning is: the CE mark is a safety conformity mark rather than a quality conformity mark. It is the “main requirement” that forms the core of the European Directive. From this concept, it seems that water bottles need CE certification, but in fact, CE certification is more for electronic products, especially products containing batteries. Small household appliances also need CE certification because these products can only be used after being powered on.

In recent years, many functional water cups have appeared in water cup products. Most of these functions require electricity to be used, such as sterilizing water cups, heating water cups, constant temperature water cups, etc. Since these water cups use batteries or external power supplies, these water cups must be exported. Need to get CE certification. However, some stainless steel water cups only realize the special functions of the water cup through the shape design and do not realize the function through electricity. Plastic water cups, glass water cups and other materials require CE certification. To this end, we specifically consulted and confirmed with some professional testing institutions, and only started writing this content after receiving confirmation.
